What is Biogas Technology?

Biogas technology is a biological process that converts organic materials into renewable energy through anaerobic digestion.
During this process, naturally occurring microorganisms break down organic matter in the absence of oxygen, producing biogas consisting primarily of methane and carbon dioxide.

Understanding the Science Behind Biogas Production

Biogas technology is based on the natural process of anaerobic digestion, where microorganisms break down biodegradable organic materials in the absence of oxygen. During this process, organic waste is converted into methane-rich biogas and nutrient-rich digestate.

The generated biogas typically contains: 50–70% Methane (CH₄) , 30–50% Carbon Dioxide (CO₂), Trace amounts of hydrogen sulfide and moisture

The methane content makes biogas a highly valuable renewable energy source that can be used for: Electricity generation, Steam production, Industrial heating , Cooking applications, Biomethane production, Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems
The residual digestate serves as an eco-friendly organic fertilizer that improves soil fertility and agricultural productivity.
